Disconnect or delete a sender
Owners and admins can disconnect a sender and, once it is disconnected, delete it. Both are in Admin → Senders: open the sender's details in Status Overview and use the Disconnect or delete section at the bottom.
Confirming it's you
Both actions ask you to type the sender's name exactly as the Senders page shows it. If you haven't signed in within the last 15 minutes, Yapper asks you to sign in again first, then brings you back to the Senders page with the confirmation open. These actions can't be done while a Yapper support person is viewing your account on your behalf.
Disconnect a sender
Click Disconnect sender, type the name, and confirm. Right away:
- The sender stops replying, sending, and running scheduled messages.
- Instagram and Facebook Messenger: Yapper stops receiving the account's messages and forgets its access.
- WhatsApp: Yapper ignores new messages to that number. If other numbers on the same WhatsApp Business Account are still connected, they keep working. The number stays registered with WhatsApp, so a number that also uses the WhatsApp Business app keeps working in the app.
- Web chat: the widget on your website stops working.
The sender's conversations and customers stay. Its status shows You disconnected this sender.
If Meta doesn't confirm the disconnect, the sender is still disconnected in Yapper, and the Senders page offers Finish disconnecting to try again.
Reconnect a disconnected sender
- WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger: connect the same number or account again from the connect options on the Senders page (see connect-whatsapp, connect-instagram, or connect-messenger). The sender comes back with its history.
- Web chat: click Reconnect web chat. The same snippet on your website works again.
Delete a sender
Only a disconnected sender can be deleted. Click Delete sender, type the name, and confirm. Yapper finishes removing its channel access before deleting it. If Meta does not confirm, deletion stops; try again to finish.
- The sender disappears from every sender list and picker, including the sender switcher.
- Its conversations and media are kept as read-only history. Workspace customer fields and phases remain editable.
- Its scheduled messages are removed.
- You can't undo a delete from the Senders page.
Getting a deleted sender back
Connecting the same WhatsApp number, Instagram account, or Facebook Page again in the same workspace restores the deleted sender with its history, answering with the playbook it had. If that playbook was deleted meanwhile, you choose a playbook as for a new sender. Connecting it in a different workspace starts fresh there; the history stays with this workspace.
A deleted web chat widget can't be restored. Add a new web chat to start again (see connect-web-chat).
Read a deleted sender's history
Deleted senders are listed under Archived senders below Status Overview. Click View history to open the sender's conversations in the Inbox. They are read-only: you can't send messages or change them. Team members keep the access they had, so the same people can still read them.
Deleting your whole workspace erases archived senders along with everything else.
