Billing, credits, and auto-recharge
You can manage all billing settings, credit balances, and usage statistics directly from the dashboard under Admin → Billing.
Report attempts that spend tokens are charged, including both a failed Best attempt and the fallback that completes the report.
Yapper Subscription
Yapper has a simple subscription model for accessing the service.
- Monthly Subscription: Yapper is $399 per month.
- Activating your plan: You sign up and tell Yapper about your business without a card. You pay when you activate your plan on the setup page; your first payment starts your setup assistant (see onboarding) and grants your included monthly credit allowance, which pays for the setup assistant's work and lets your assistant reply to customers as soon as it is built.
- Unlimited Access: The subscription includes unlimited team members, unlimited connected senders (such as WhatsApp, Instagram, or Facebook Messenger), and unlimited customers.
- Secure Checkout: Adding a card opens a secure checkout overlay directly in the dashboard. Payments are processed securely by Paddle, our merchant of record.
- Invoices and Payment Details: Click the Manage Invoices button to open the billing customer portal in a new tab. In the portal, you can update your credit card details, change billing information (such as your business name and tax ID), and download past invoices.
- Cancellation and Resuming: You can cancel your subscription at any time. When you cancel, the subscription remains active until the end of your current billing period. You can also resume your subscription at any time before the period ends.
Prepaid Credits
Your assistant's responses consume credits from your balance, deducted in real time as your assistant replies.
- Included Monthly Allowance: Your subscription includes a monthly credit allowance of $150 that refreshes at the start of each billing cycle.
- Allowance Consumed First, No Rollover: Your included allowance is consumed before purchased credit. The included allowance does not roll over: any unused portion of a cycle's allowance is cleared when the next cycle's allowance is added, so included credits are a per-cycle amount rather than an accumulating balance.
- Purchased Credits Never Expire: Credits you buy yourself (through a manual top-up or auto-recharge) never expire and are never cleared. They stay on your balance until your assistant uses them, on top of your included allowance.
- Manual Top-Ups: You can manually add credits to your balance at any time by clicking the top-up button, which opens a secure checkout window.
- Auto-Recharge: To prevent your assistant from running out of credits, you can configure auto-recharge settings to automatically buy credits when your balance runs low.
- Threshold: The balance level that triggers an automatic recharge.
- Top-Up Target: The balance your account is topped up to. When the threshold is crossed, your payment method is charged whatever it takes to reach this figure. If your balance has gone negative, that one charge clears what you owe and restores your target in a single step.
- Rules: The top-up target must be at least $50 above the threshold, so that every automatic charge is at least $50.
- Monthly Spend Limit: You can set a limit on how much Yapper charges your payment method in a single billing cycle. It is optional: leave it empty and there is no limit. When set, it must be at least $50, since that is the smallest charge Yapper can make.
- What Happens at the Limit: Yapper stops buying credits for the rest of the cycle. Your assistant keeps replying on the balance you already have, and replies pause only if that balance runs out. The limit caps what you are charged, not what your assistant can do.
- Tracking It: The Billing tab shows how much has been charged this cycle against your limit, so you can see the remaining headroom before it is reached.
- When It Resets: The amount charged resets at the start of each billing cycle, when your included allowance refreshes. If your subscription is not active, it does not reset, and the limit continues to apply to the total already charged.
- Changing It: Raise or clear the limit in Billing at any time to let automatic top-ups resume.
Note: If your account uses your own API keys (bring-your-own-key), your replies' model costs go to your own provider rather than being charged in credits. You still have a prepaid balance, shown on the Billing tab with a "Your own key" badge, and it must stay above zero: if it runs out, replies pause exactly as they would on any other account. Consultant and Curator usage is included up to a monthly amount; beyond it, it draws down this balance. Setup assistant usage always draws down this balance.
Usage and Costs
You can monitor how much your assistant is costing you, both in the current cycle and in cycles that have already closed.
- Usage Breakdown: The Usage tab shows this cycle's charged figures beside your balance, broken down by what spent it (Chat, Consultant, Setup assistant, and Reports), so you can see which part of your workload is driving the bill.
- Your Rates: The bottom of the Usage tab lists the stored per-million rates for each kind of work, split by quality (Standard and Best). Consultant and Curator are listed as included, with the rate that applies beyond the included amount, and the monthly allowance is shown beneath the table.
- Choosing a Cycle: The date range at the top of the Usage tab is also the cycle selector: open it to switch between billing cycles. It lists every cycle with recorded usage, so you can compare the current one against earlier ones. If your account has only one cycle so far, the range is shown as plain text with nothing to choose.
- What the Figures Are: Each amount shown is what was actually charged to your balance at the time the work ran, not a later re-estimate of it. The current cycle's total grows as your assistant works and is not a final invoice, but the amounts already in it do not change: if your rates are updated, the new rates apply to work from then on and nothing already charged is restated.
- Older Usage: Work that ran before the Usage tab recorded charges shows its tokens but no amount, tagged Not recorded. A category mixing that older work with recorded charges is tagged Partly recorded: its amount covers only the recorded part. Categories included free on your plan always read Included, however old the work.
- Bring-Your-Own-Key: If your account uses your own API keys, the breakdown shows your estimated provider cost. You pay your provider directly, so these figures are priced at that provider's published rates rather than Yapper's: an estimate of your own bill, not a charge from us. Occasionally a small amount of usage cannot be priced, and the tab will say so.
- Consultant and Curator: Consultant and Curator usage is included up to a monthly amount that renews at the start of each billing cycle. Included usage does not draw down your monthly allowance or purchased credits, never reaches your provider's bill, and shows on the Usage tab as included. Yapper notifies your workspace admins by email when you have used 70% and 90% of the included amount. Beyond it, additional Consultant and Curator usage is charged in Yapper credits at your rates, like any other usage, and the Billing tab says so until the next cycle begins. A small number of accounts are on negotiated terms that include consultant work in their rate card; if yours is one, consultant work always draws down your balance like any other usage.
- Setup assistant: The setup assistant's work building your assistant is charged in Yapper credits at your rates from its first message. It is not part of the included Consultant and Curator amount, and it is charged in credits even if your account uses your own API keys. A long setup can bring your balance below your auto-recharge threshold before your assistant starts answering customers, and then Yapper recharges it as usual.
Failed Payments and Warnings
Billing alerts depend on what failed. Auto-recharge declines and an exhausted prepaid balance use Yapper's billing notifications. For a failed subscription renewal, Paddle emails the workspace owner and handles payment retries; Yapper does not send an account-health alert.
- Exhausted Balance: If your prepaid balance runs out completely and your included allowance is exhausted, AI replies are paused. Your assistant will stop replying to customers until you add credits or your next billing cycle refreshes your allowance. This applies even if your account uses your own API keys: a balance at or below zero pauses replies regardless of whose key generates them.
- Auto-Recharge Decline: If Yapper tries to recharge your balance and the payment is declined, account admins receive an email. The balance is not credited; update your payment method or add credits manually in Billing. Replies pause if the balance reaches zero.
- Low Balance Warning: If your balance drops below your auto-recharge threshold and a recharge cannot go through (or is pending), a warning banner is shown in your dashboard to prompt you to check your payment method or add credits manually.
- Approaching Your Spend Limit: If you have set a monthly spend limit and this cycle's charges pass 80% of it, account admins receive an email. Nothing has stopped yet; it is a heads-up that automatic top-ups will stop once the limit is reached.
- Spend Limit Reached: When this cycle's charges reach your monthly spend limit, account admins receive an email and Yapper stops buying credits for the rest of the cycle. Your assistant keeps replying on the remaining balance. Raise or clear the limit in Billing to resume top-ups, or add credits manually.
- Subscription Renewal Failure: Paddle emails the workspace owner and handles payment retries for a failed renewal. Follow the payment instructions in those emails.
Deleting Your Account
Only the workspace owner can request account deletion. If you are an admin or member, the Delete Account control is unavailable.
- Go to Admin → Billing and click Delete Account.
- Type your account ID and then the word
DELETEwhen prompted to confirm the deletion. - Once confirmed, the deletion request is queued for processing and you will be logged out of Yapper immediately. It cannot be submitted again while it is in progress.
- Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. All of your connected senders, team members, customers, and conversation histories are permanently deleted.
If the dashboard says account deletion is already in progress, your earlier request was accepted. You do not need to submit another request.
